Practical first-step support for dog behaviour concerns at home, on a walk, or in a suitable local environment.
For local guardians who would benefit from practical support in real life, especially when home set-up, visitor routines, walking support, or environmental management would be helpful.
This is early behavioural first-aid support. You can book directly without needing a veterinary referral first.

Duration: 90 minutes
A practical first step in the environment where support is needed
An in-person consultation allows us to look at your dog’s routine, environment and practical set-up where safe and appropriate.

It can be especially useful for:
- Home set-up and visitor routines
- Lead handling and walking support
- Practical management around triggers
- Reviewing equipment, entrances, exits and safe spaces
- Coaching in real-life situations where this is safe and welfare-led
In-person support will always be planned with safety and welfare in mind. The aim is not to push your dog into situations they cannot cope with.

Preparing For Your In-Person Consultation
Before your appointment
You may be asked to follow preparation guidance so your dog is not put under unnecessary pressure during the visit.
This may include:
- Arranging a calm set-up before I arrive
- Using secure separation where needed
- Having your dog’s usual equipment available
- Avoiding unnecessary exposure to known triggers before the appointment
- Sending videos beforehand if direct observation would not be safe or practical
We will not deliberately overwhelm your dog
If your dog struggles with visitors, people, dogs, traffic, handling, or other triggers, the aim is not to force them to “show” the behaviour.
Where direct observation would put your dog, people, or other animals under unnecessary pressure, we will use safer alternatives. This may include video review, environmental assessment, staged set-ups, distance work, or management planning.
This is behavioural first aid, not a full clinical behaviour package
This consultation does not include a full clinical assessment, diagnosis, veterinary behaviour report, medication advice, or ongoing clinical behaviour support.
If your dog needs clinical behaviour support, I will explain this clearly and guide you through the veterinary referral pathway.
How It Works
Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the consultation take place?
The consultation can take place at your home, on a local walk, or in a suitable training environment, depending on your dog’s needs and what is safest.
Will we expose my dog to their triggers during the consultation?
Only where it is safe, appropriate and welfare-led. The aim is not to push your dog into situations they cannot cope with. If direct exposure would be too much, we will use safer alternatives.
What if my dog cannot cope with visitors?
That is okay. We can plan a safer set-up, use secure separation, work from a distance, or review videos instead of expecting direct interaction.
What happens if in-person first aid is not enough?
I will explain the recommended next steps clearly. This may include follow-up support, virtual support, veterinary review, or a Clinical Behaviour Support Package.
